Watch what you eat.

You’ve heard since childhood — sweets can corrode and damage your teeth. For a full list of the food you should avoid, visit Mouth Healthy, the American Dental Association’s® website. Some of the foods they say to avoid include “sweet like cookies, cakes and muffins and snack food like chips.” Some snacks can actually help you improve your dental health. “Cheese, milk, plain yogurt, calcium-fortified tofu,” and more can help you keep your teeth healthy and strong.

Maintain your dental health.

We all know that brushing our teeth is important. Remember to brush at least twice a day. Play a song each morning and night (the song you play should be two to three minutes long) and brush until the song is over. This is a great way to remember how long to brush. Don’t forget to take time to floss after you’re done brushing. Flossing is easy to forget, but it’s essential to keeping your gums and teeth healthy. Setting an alarm on your phone to remind you of when you need to floss is a great way to start keeping this healthy habit.

Checkup with your dentist.

Make an appointment with a local dentist here in Chalfont, PA every six months, visiting more often as needed. Whenever you feel your teeth aching, hurting, or if your teeth seem to be a strange color, set an appointment with your dentist. Visiting the dentist often will allow you to catch issues before they become full-blown problems.

Whiten your teeth.

Want whiter teeth? Many dentists provide teeth whitening as one of their services. You can also buy whitening strips and toothpaste from your local drugstore or grocery store. Everyday Roots has great at-home whitening tips you can try in your own apartment. Remember to consult your dentist before you begin whitening your teeth — you don’t want to do anything that will hurt your mouth or your teeth.
