Get a Good Night's Sleep
Get a better night’s sleep this month by using our tips and tricks. It can be difficult to get the right amount of sleep each night, especially when work and other responsibilities keep you up with worry and stress. The Madison New Britain Blog is featuring our best advice to help you get some much needed shut eye. We hope that you get a good night’s sleep here in Chalfont, PA this month.
It can be difficult to wind down after a long day; give yourself at least an hour to relax before bed. Take a relaxing bath, read a good book, or write about what’s been stressing you out. Writing about your feelings is a great way to let go of the things that have been bothering you. Try to avoid the blue light that comes from your television and other electronic devices. Some cell phones have a setting that changes your phone’s light to yellow light before bed, but it’s probably best to avoid getting distracted by social media before you go to bed.
Make Yourself Comfortable
Is your mattress right for your back? Some people prefer sleeping on a firmer mattress, while others prefer soft, pillowy mattresses. The National Sleep Foundation writes, “Make sure your mattress is comfortable and supportive. The one you have been using for years may have exceed its life expectancy — about 9 to 10 years for most good quality mattresses.” Keep your room at a temperature that fits you and make sure your bed has plenty of sheets and blankets!
Set a Schedule
Setting up a sleep schedule is an easy way to make going to bed easier. Decide what time you’ll go to sleep each night and wake up in the morning and keep that schedule — even on weekends! Set a bedtime routine. Brush your teeth, floss, wash your face, read a little...and then get to bed. This schedule will let your body know that it’s time to relax and get to sleep.
